Tokyo Auto Salon 2012 - Fujita Eng.

Fujita's emotive design on the FD3s is still a very strong favourite among many including myself.

It's one of the few body-kits that doesn't over power the original FD3s shape. It just add's that extra curve here or there.

Displayed on the option stand next to the Scoot 4 rotor (more on that later), the two cars couldn't look more different. The smooth curves of the Fujita machine Vs the Sharp angles of the Scoot car.

The name reads "FEED Advan New Gun Metal FD3s". This is a new build that took most of 2011 and debuted at Tsukuba's rev speed event.

Fujita always have a good relationship with Advan and that's another reason this car gets attention. Deep GT-R dish TCIII with the machined centres in silver look amazing.

They have a certain impact, don't you think?

The side of the car becomes a mix of depth. The small carbon additions have been copied by everyone, but FEED are the originators.

Fujita engineering's trademark colour, Gun Metal has adorned many of their cars, both street and race versions. This car's target is street, however we have already seen it demolish Tsukuba in 58s. A multi tasking car that fit's the desires of many owners. Any further than this and you get into spending a squillion dollars on a car that only gets used a few times a year. I've been there.

Side view has the large F stripe, and the Help Tohoku area sticker still remains. Yes, still earthquakes every day in Japan.

The rear of the car doesn't have any real features. They never run a diffuser on the street spec cars and to get  fast laps a big wing and more power is sometimes just as effective. (to a point) Craft Company usually add the Osaka version of the FD diffuser.

 Mmmm curvy.

Mmmm Shiney.

Front bumper type II and Canard set, integrated Feed HID spot lights. A lot of custom ducting is also used in the front.

You can almost see here. Feed run a FMIC but the lower section is elevated to allow half the opening air volume to hit the Radiator. Does it work...? I remember an article that says temps are above normal, but running high pressure caps and good quality coolant can keep the temps with a safe range. But you NEED those things anyway.

I'll finish with this shot. If you look on the WALL, you can see the advertisement for 7's day 2012!!!!!

The Mazda Tuning Festa 2012 will take place on 2012 JULY 06 Friday! Maybe I'll see you there.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2012 - pREview

Perfection, Maturity, Madness, Dumped, Drifted, Styled and Conceived. Some of the words you might hear in the next few days and weeks from RE-Xtreme as we go in detail through the cars of TAS 2012.

These shots are just a quick look through the camera.

Some things you will want to see more of.

Some with new ideas.

Some with a new take on old topics.

Limits are explored in every direction.

From the daily street lifestyle...

To the drift crazy mad bull extremes.

There was a lot going on, new, old, tried and tested.

Somethings maybe you shouldn't test.

And boundaries pushed all the way.

Sometimes the scene is surreal.

And sometimes it's very real.

I look forward to bringing you all these and much more from Tokyo Auto Salon...

Tsukuba Super Battle 2011 - Supper Time.

When I saw the New Fujita Engineering Advan Rx-7 sitting on matte black Advan RG-II, I literally stopped in my tracks. It was kind of winking at me... Ka Ching! Ka Ching! You know you want it!

I've always been an Advan fan, with RS and RGIIs adorning my cars in the past, but something about this Gun and Black matching set spells aggressive in a big way!

I think it's the simplicity of it all. The curvaceous spokes and the colour combination is like something a  street fighter should be wearing.

Stealth black and red Ninja headband enables undetected attacks. All it needs is an automatic shuriken launcher to blow competitors tyres.

In the shadows... it lurks, it waits, it stalks it's prey...

OK... enough metaphors, the rear is relatively simple. Not even a diffuser, Makes you wonder doesn't it? No, it's a street car and practicality is foremost.

If feed were to seriously build a no expense spared Time Attacker then it would probably start with their Afflux V body and not this shell.

It's only +30 each side and these 9.5J run 255 all round for the tyre management scenarios.  Usually offset is +24 and the rear wears a 30mm spacer. But I'd recommend a 20mm spacer on the rear from experience.

Feed bonnet vents at the rear are functional. But it's action time.

Ooi-san attacking the hairpin. You can see the circuit had dried up in places and the Sun was kind of out. Drivers were told a hot lap should include headlights. The small HIDs work well for this job.

This was the session where the fast times would come.

The titanium pipe was relatively quiet compared to many others I've heard.

Suspension working well into the banked hairpin. Ooi-san trail braking right to the apex as a real driver should show his skills.

With Advan A050 GS compound lasting about 3 laps, the car was soon in for a new set. Off with the Advan RGII. Cry...

Fujita-san doing jack duty on his new machine.

Whats this? Advan RS-D in matte black... just as awesome... maybe.

I headed over to the main straight for this end to the session. Bonnet lifting a little under speed. No bonnet pins on this street car.

With every lap I tried longer shutter openings to get that blur of speed.

But I was surprised when the car headed straight out of the track down the escape road out of the circuit. It seems the guys had already packed up their stuff ready for the long drive back to Osaka. This car literally drove straight off the track, changed tires back to Neova uncovered the number plate and the drove 6 hours on the highway. I hope they remembered to change the damper settings. Flat beds are for pussies or professionals.

'58.051 was their best.  The FD done to a club racing spec is a car you could live with. Don't go to far and it will reward anywhere, anytime.

The Feed Spirits.

Tsukuba Super Battle 2011 - Early Feeding Time.

Fujita Engineering really amplify the FD3s Shape with their body kit. It's art in motion.

Another of the Street Registered cars driven to the circuit. The TCII with Neova endured a long 6 hour drive from Osaka. (maybe a bit faster...hehe)

We can see why this is the Feed Advan Rx-7 use your calculator. in Japan they are 36000 each.

The mechanics work hard at these events... What's the first set ? Lets start with Advan RGII in Silver with refreshed rubber.

Prepping the cars in freezing temps is not glamorous.

Glamour is the driver's job.

Ooi-san is a bit of a legend and he had the FD3s balanced beautifully. Long tiny slides under acceleration on the wet track.

This is only one sequence, but he repeated his deft touch lap after lap.

As he played with the paint.

The final corner at tsukuba has got to be scary in the wet. Almost no margin for error.

You may have noticed the 30th Anniversary stickers on the car. Quite an achievement.

Apart from the rotary shield, this new car wears the red Fujita F slash with the grey wording hardly visible.

Rear suspension and 30mm spacers. I'm sure this car could go much faster if Fujita ran advans 295 rubber instead of sticking with 255. But it is a road car I guess.

Front disks are showing signs of wear and the temp stickers reading the wet weather temps.

Curves and vents.

under the hood you find the new spec Fujita Engineering engine with FMIC (yes they still work...if done properly)

Big Single and all the supporting pluming finished nicely.

The carbon cover is a cosmetic piece but gets your attention.

I was lucky to find the car in scrutineering. the back light a blessing.

I played with this image a bit but it looks quite stunning in it's Japanese setting.

I'll have more in a second part coming up soon as Feed Attacks.
