7's Day 2011 - F-See

Here's a little inspiration for those FC-Xtremists among us. Most FD owners have probably had an FC or two in their past...

These are the ones they probably dreamed about. Border / Tamon / Convertible with TE37 and V-Mount.

Or perhaps an RE-Amemiya FC-2000 front to complement some older tuning components like these MS-01 Mazdaspeed rims.

How about THE original RE-Amemiya Greddy II widebody with 928 headlight conversion on OZ rims. Awesome or what!!!!

Or maybe something wider... this car tuned by ERC features some extra wild parts from Border, Tamon and more.

Makes you want one again, doesn't it? I wonder if the electrics are still working?

Speed Hunted

I was recently approached to put together a small article about obsession. What makes us fanatics live and breath car obsession?

The Speedhunters guest blog for a look inside RE-Xtreme is Here.

http://speedhunters.com/archive/2011/11/18/guest-blog-gt-gt-russell-gander-re-xtreme.aspx

My first article on Speedhunters was a long long time ago and I looked at the top5 most influential FD3s.

That article is Here... but maybe it needs expanding to a top ten. The top 5 still bear true but the scope was limited.  The Scoot 4 Rotor and Veilside Tokyo Drift car would make popular additions.

http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/01/05/user-ranking-gt-gt-re-xtreme-top-5.aspx

On a side note... RE-Xtreme Version III has recently left my possession, so I'm not as obsessed as people think... What's Version IV?

7's Day 2011 - Touge Legend.

What does it take to create a legend?

A good script, an actual event or chance. Whatever the truth, the Touge Monster FD3s is a legend. The defeater and defender of the Touge. On a chosen piece of asphalt in Gunma Japan, this machine was, and still is, capable of dispatching more powerful and favoured 2wd and 4wd opponents. It defines the term "Total Balance". It also builds credit to the notion that if you want to drive hard and get satisfaction, you don't a million dollar budget, 600 horsepower or a widebody pretty car, especially on the street.

At seven's day I spotted the car in the carpark at Tsukuba, the car is still street registered without drama, and during my trip from Tsukuba to Daikoku, the surprise street attack was still evident. Unfortunately I was driving and not taking pictures at that time. (fun fun)

Twin turbo, 360hp, and only 17" wheels and Neova may sound a bit under spec, but it led to more than a few replica builds including my own. The white FD in the background of the picture below was the replacement built by RE-Amemiya. Both cars would go toe to toe all day and all night on your favorite mountain pass.

Quite simply ... adequate.

7's Day 2011 - Amemiya Fans!

Here's something you see often. Scoot Bonnet  + RE-Amemiya N1 Facer. Nice!

Here's something you don't see every day. RE-Amemiya cars on Advan wheels, especially RS-D.

One of THE favoured combo's by many in Japan for purposeful aerodynamics with soft lines that suit the FD3s very well. The carbon canard pro set adds the edge to the look.

The car wears a decent dish, but I feel the effect is lessened by the two color finish. The body on this car was very difficult to photograph. A metallic blue flip style grey metallic paint that changed in every shot. I'm sure at night this machine would look amazing though! The owner chose nice paint, so the lights were still pop up style.

But the daytime shows it's high "road" stance. Anyone with an AD GT Kit will know, the side skirts are sometimes more of an issue than the front of the car for ride height, so it is practical. This is the AD-GT II kit on the rear arches. Still not sure this is the better option.

But... I photo-shopped this shot just to see the effect of another inch drop... as expected ... AMAZING!

Now photographing cars in a car-park is not an easy task. there's always something in the way.  On this day, it was just "another bloody RX7" hiding access to the rear finisher panel and GT II wing. This shot easily shows the differences between the two wings in width and mounting position. GT III in the foreground.

As with anything in Japan. from a distance, the same car, but up close. The small differences create an entirely new look. Hood 9, Sleek lights, Carbon look Super Greddy 7 Mirrors...

The same bumper although without the undersweep and back to the RE-Amemiya trademark Enkei GTC complemented by the duck egg blue/white.

It all looks great until you see something you don't want to. Super greddy 7 rear bumper...!!!!! I'll never like it. Maybe black would hide the hideous bulge. ... Maybe... My mind is open.

I said before I'd never post another pic of this rear, but at least it's obscured slightly.

haha.

Two great cars!

7's Day 2011 - What a Drag.

This car has one of the better looking rear ends I'd seen in a while.

The big stickers read "Okada Engineering" and this car is representative of their stye.

Low and hard looking street stance set for Expressway attack! Combo of parts creates an older look up front that while doesn't exactly match the smooth fenders, still brings that C-West racing style bumper with it's massive openings to feed the FMIC.

I'd expect the top speed on this car to be tested often.

7's Day 2011 - Confused Identity.

Confused? There's a lot going on here.

What we have here is an FD with an identity crisis. The BN Sports RX8 bumper and FD side Skirts mix quite well, but the problem with this conversion is always panel fit. The gap behind the bonnet must serve as serve as a heat exit, because it's massive. JDM rims & performance, US sticker bombs and number plate... WTF? Roof racks and other stuff.

But somehow it all works. I particularly like the deep purple and the rear drag wing helps the low stance... but has zero effect when the wheels are on the roof.

Interesting car.
